Old Bank Studios, Penryn, UK, July 2018
How, and under what circumstances, is our perception of personal and cultural memory shaped and captured by writing technologies?
A one-week residency at Old Bank Studios formalised as a ‘reading and writing retreat’. It was also an opportunity to research and to embark on the production of a series of new 500-word texts examining the paradoxical relationship between writing, time and memory. The writing was informed by experimental and expanded notions of writing – chance, collaboration, the performed. In addition to writing these texts, we develop proposals for supporting artworks that explore each text’s core ideas through more visual means.
