Ruukku Journal Issue 8 – Conditions of Sharing
Chapter One [Exposition]
This exposition (article) for the Ruukku Journal focuses on the gestural and uses Vilém Flusser’s concept of ‘pseudo writing’, to analyse the interaction between the physical actions and the technologies of writing.
There are rumours that writing will cease, books will die, the digital eye will take over. Standing at the edge of this precipice we look away from these preoccupations. Instead we look back, investigating the act of writing through systematic consideration, attempting to disregard all preconceptions.
‘Chapter One’ presents a selection of the acts of writing, observational texts, images and objects that constitute our research, serving to break down these activities and present the terms and conditions employed as a framework for activity.
RUUKKU – Studies in Artistic Research, is a multidisciplinary, multilingual, peer-reviewed journal on artistic research. Issue 8, has been collated under the theme of Conditions of Sharing to supplement the Please Specify! conference organized by the University of the Arts Helsinki together with the Society for Artistic Research held in April 2017.
